www.makingthefilm.net/bareminfilmmakerneeds.htmQuick Guide for Film The bare minimal Ok you got a idea for a film and you want to now get it onto screen. Right! Ok now you got to understand how serious you are about this new project. How much time have you got? Can you shoot weekends for years or have you got couple months off? How long roughly is this project going to be? 1min or 120mins? Usually it’s one page of script equals 1min. Before you start. Before you even start you should realise that its sweating, bloody, hard work. You will get negative feedback and its going to cost money. The more professional you want it the more money it will be. The MUST items you need before you start! Determination! (loads and loads) Camcorder. (should be 3CCD) Idea’s. (loads and loads helps) PC. (to edit on with good software Adobe or Avidxp.) Money. (at least £200) Time. (the more time you prep the less time for disaster) The MUST do’s for feature film! 81mins or more otherwise its hard if not impossible to sell. What do I need? Part 1 Idea’s Money What next? Part 2 Write script Read, watch dvd’s extras about making films, learn. What min do I need? Part 3 Buy or borrow camcorder. Camcorder So it can be broadcast if it gets to TV or where ever, you need a 3CCD camcorder. You can also go for 16mm or 35mm but film costs loads and you need experience. Also Hi-Def is a good option. If you can afford it by gels, extension cable and lights. What do I do now? Part 4 Shoot, shoot, shoot and shoot then re-shoot. Download to pc and edit, edit and edit. The longer the film will be, the more time you will have to spend on other areas i.e. script. If your going to do a feature then you should not just do a script but do story boards, test footage, concept art etc. But this is the bare minimal. Check out pre-post for full information on all areas of film.

What you looking at to do? a film or just some fun? If your looking to do a proper film if you can shoot with film 16mm. But that will cost £10k. If you can shoot HD rent or borrow a cam or even a 3CCD camcorda will do. Has to be 3CCD min.

Im useing Pinnical 8, Will upgrade so, Im not sure it will be P9, judging as how its the single buggyest program Ive ever used. I use to have 8 and it was great 9.3se i cant tell no different. But i will warn you 9.3se only works it your lucky and got a fast pc nd i mean fast. I bought it and it didnt work for me, so i checked out pinnicale website, forum, support and it turns out loads of people who bought it, it wont work for them, and they get a refund. And wish they keeped 8. no joke theres loads on the support forum. I've got the windows XP editor but dont know how to work it, but its free. When or if lol i make my film i'll look into AVID i've got a spare room i could make into a editing suite, I've checked prices for renting an editing suite and its a bomb so that might be a good earner. PS thanks for you posts snake mean a lot.

i got pinnicale 9.3SE it cost about 70 squid. It didnt work at first after spending 300 squid doing my pc up it works now. I hear a lot about adobe premire and AVID for films. But that costs a lot of squid.
What you got? is it any good.
