i got pinnicale 9.3SE it cost about 70 squid. It didnt work at first after spending 300 squid doing my pc up it works now. I hear a lot about adobe premire and AVID for films. But that costs a lot of squid.
What you got? is it any good.

Im useing Pinnical 8, Will upgrade so, Im not sure it will be P9, judging as how its the single buggyest program Ive ever used. I use to have 8 and it was great 9.3se i cant tell no different. But i will warn you 9.3se only works it your lucky and got a fast pc nd i mean fast. I bought it and it didnt work for me, so i checked out pinnicale website, forum, support and it turns out loads of people who bought it, it wont work for them, and they get a refund. And wish they keeped 8. no joke theres loads on the support forum. I've got the windows XP editor but dont know how to work it, but its free. When or if lol i make my film i'll look into AVID i've got a spare room i could make into a editing suite, I've checked prices for renting an editing suite and its a bomb so that might be a good earner. PS thanks for you posts snake mean a lot.

I noticed that, I have two computers, or rather, you perants have a nice one and my and my bros have a slightly less awsome computer. I used the trial version on both. If you dont have beyond the requirements needed for this, your looking at a whole afternoon to edit five minutes of film.

I Use Studio 9.3.5 and I have no issues but this is what my computer specs are.
AMD ATHLON 64 3700+ (Socket 754) Asus K8V-SE Deluxe Motherboard 2gbs of DDR PC 3200 Corsair ram (4) 200Gb HDD's NEC 3520A 16x Dvd writer (No better writer IMHO) Geforce FX 6660GT Video card Dazzle Box 150b
The processor runs at a stock speed of 2.4ghz, however this is a 64 bit processor. So running in a 32bit WIN XP environment this thing really flies. Using 3Dmark2003 I have out benchmarked Intel P4 3.4ghz CPU's.
Using 3Dmark2005 I am running equal to a 3.8ghz Intel CPU. Pinnacle requries a lotta power from the PC it is installed on. I wouldn't recommend anything less that an AMD Athlon 3400+ (s754) or an AMD 3500+ (s939).
For INTEL, I recommend p4 3.0ghz or higher. But you need memory. So make sure you have at least 1.0gb's or more of ram. Use a high quality ram. something with a CAS latency of 2.5 or lower.

Avid Xpress Pro HD... but when you're starting out it really doesn't make a lot of difference, any half-decent editing program can edit DV pretty much as well as any other these days, if you put the time into learning it properly.
Oh, and P4-3.06, 1GB RAM, about 800GB of disk space.

whats happening
i started off using pinnicale studio 8 then switched to adobe premiere then got an imac and got final cut pro hd and i cant tell you how much easier it is to use but i guess its all about preference. the only problem i have with it is that you cannot do rotoscoping in it to do say lightsaber effects and such. if anyone knows how to do rotoscoping in fcp please let me know!

Hi I use adobe 6.5 right now with after effects and encore DVD.. I used final cut pro on a project but want convinced mac's were better... I suppose it's the platform and software your used to and can afford.. I've had no real probs with premiere and will upgrade to pro 1.5 in 2 weeks.. What I dont like about adobe tho is they charge for advice on their products although there are some good free forums... Jx

I've had to switch to Pinnacle Liquid Edition temporarily so I can edit HDV until Avid get their HDV support out. I have to say, so far it seems a bit poo... maybe it takes a while to get used to.

Final Cut seems to be similar to Premiere. Avid takes a bit of getting used to -- it's designed for people who are used to sticking bits of film together with tape -- but it's pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it.
