Heh, I don't mean the takings on an opening weekend, but actual opening scenes.
Scenes like D-Day in Saving Private Ryan are non-eligible, as they didn't 'open' the film, if you catch my drift.
Over to you.

hey there, nice looking board so far. Got the whole superman theme goin on with the red and blue.
Greatest opening is...Suicide Circle by, i don't know who that guy is, but it's great. A whole bunch of private school girls hold hands and jump in front of a train. All their body parts go flying and waterfalls of blood splatter everywhere!! It's great! ;D
I'd have to say second place goes to Dead Alive by Peter Jackson. After he gets bit by a monkey, the others freak out and start chopping him up. Cool...and then the ending is bad ass too.

HI
But in my humble opinion STAR WARS!!!!!!!!!!!!! the first one (or episode IV whatever you want to call it)
Even the fox logo gets me excited when I watch that film, Then the the star wars logo, followed by the story roll then the ships flying overhead. can you imagine how this must have impacted in 1977! it looks awsome today on the big screen, let alone then!

Opening to Life of Brian when the wisemen go to to the wrong stable. "What are you giving a balm to a baby for?"
