I just got a camera for Christmas, I got a Samsung DV video camera, with real stereo, x1200 digital zoom, widescreen, and wind cut? would this be good for making movies?

id suggest dv is a great starting camcorda forget about hi8.
you use all the effects in editing so you dont need widescreen or zoom, or fade, blur etc. this all done in post.
For shooting a film you need a HD or 3CCD true. (1-3k)
But thats only if it goes to dvd.
Just start shooting stuff and from the money you make off short.
