i was thinking ive done a short film and currently in the middle of a feature film format digital. I was thinking that festivals are the best place really to get interest i.e. sundance and raindance. As they are both film only short or feature I was thinking of doing a short I could buy some stock use my pd150 as sound recorder. A can of film is 11mins and cost around 20-30 quid. So im guessing id only need about 5-10 cans. Then development and transfer. Then I started thinking if El Mariachi took 25 cans why not make a film. But then its a big risk and would amount to over 5k. But im still thinking about a 16mm short film, i see on imdb.com all the directors start small.
I read that Sundance receives 4,000 shorts and 2,600 features only 202 get shown. Which is when you think about it not a lot, but if they where your odds for the Lottery everyone would go in.
